Andrew Dasburg (1887-1979)

GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Andrew Dasburg was born in Paris in 1887. After his father died he moved with his mother to Nittel, Germany and in 1892 to New York City. He was injured in a fall, and in 1894 he attended a school for crippled children where he learned how to draw and work with wood and metal. In 1902, Dasburg went to study at the Art Students League where he studied under Robert Henri.

Mary Cassatt (1844-1926)

The daughter of a Pittsburgh broker, Mary Cassatt was born into a privileged American home in 1844. She was first introduced to art during her childhood travels throughout Europe, eventually enrolling at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts in Philadelphia at the age of 16.
