GENERAL DESCRIPTION
This station grew around an old temple where a stone Buddha Yakushi (Buddha of healing) was enshrined. The temple lies in the opening between the trees.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Ōtsu, located on the shores of Lake Biwa, was the site of the 7th century C.E. imperial residence. It developed into a post town along the Tokaido; and following World War II, it became the center of the industrial zone south of Lake Biwa.
1984.202.51 Minakuchi: Famous Dried Gourd Shavings
GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The special product of Minakuchi was the shavings of dried gourds, which were used in a number of Japanese dishes. The women in this scene are peeling gourds and hanging the strips to dry.
1984.202.47 Kameyama: Clear Weather After Snow
GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Although Andō Hiroshige made his sketches of the Tōkaidō during the summer months, he included two snow scenes. However, neither resembles very closely the named town.
