Ward Bennett (1917-2003)

GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Bennett was reaching the apex of his varied career in fashion, architectural, interior, and product design in the 1960s when he was engaged by Tiffany & Co. to design tableware. A maverick and adventurer who left home and school at the age of thirteen, Bennett first worked in the fashion industry.

Zaha Hadid (1950-2016)

GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Born in Iraq, Zaha Hadid graduated with a degree in Mathematics from American University in Beirut and studied architecture at the Architectural Association, London before joining the Office of Metropolitan Architecture.

Robert J. King (b. 1917)

GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Robert King graduated in 1941 from the University of Wisconsin where he was a student of John Van Koert's. From 1939 to 1941, he worked in Van Koert's commercial studio, making jewelry and small novelties using the lost-wax process. During World War II, King served in the Army Air Forces from 1943-1946.

Robert Venturi (b. 1925) and Denise Scott Brown (b. 1931)

Through their pioneering theory and provocative built work, husband and wife duo Robert Venturi and Denise Scott Brown were at the forefront of the postmodern movement, leading the charge in one of the most significant shifts in architecture of the 20th century by publishing seminal books such as Complexity and Contradiction in Architecture (authored by Robert Venturi alone) and

Mario Bellini (b. 1935)

GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Mario Bellini was born in Milan in 1935 and graduated with a degree in architecture from the Milan Polytechnic in 1959. In charge of design at La Rinascente (1961-63), he set up a studio of architecture and design in 1963 which is now called Mario Bellini Associates. He has worked for various companies, especially in the field of electronics, and has been in charge of Olivetti design since 1963.

Knoll International

GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Hans G. Knoll, founder of Knoll Furniture Company, was born in 1914 in Germany to a family of furniture makers; his father, Walter Knoll, was a manufacturer of "modern" furniture. Hans was raised in Stuttgart and trained in the family business. By 1938, he immigrated to New York, where he established himself as the Hans G. Knoll Furniture Company at East 72nd Street.

Mark Tobey (1890-1976)

GENERAL DESCRIPTION
In his art and life, Mark Tobey gracefully blended Eastern and Western beliefs and values, seeking to join the physical and the spiritual worlds. As a young boy growing up along the banks of the Mississippi in Wisconsin, Tobey developed his keen observation of and deep respect for the outer, visible world of nature. He was equally dedicated to his spiritual life.

Brice Marden (b. 1938)

GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Brice Marden was born in 1938 in Bronxville, New York, and grew up in the nearby town of Briarcliff Manor. Marden attended Florida Southern College, then Boston University School of Fine and Applied Arts, where he earned his bachelor of fine arts degree in 1961, and finally Yale University, where he earned a master of fine arts degree in 1963.
