Caldecott Honor artist and six-time Pura Belpré winner Yuyi Morales shares her personal story through her picture book Dreamers. In 1994 she left her home in Xalapa, Mexico, and came to the US with her infant son. She left behind nearly everything she owned, but brought her strength, passion, hopes, dreams, and stories with her. Dreamers is a story about family, making a home in a new place, and the inspiration found in stories and libraries. This interactive presentation is largely in English, but incorporates some Spanish.
Free tickets for the lecture will be available online in advance at DMA.org/all or by calling 214-922-1818. More than 100 tickets will be available the day of the festival and are first-come, first-served at the Will Call Desk near Horchow Auditorium beginning at 11:00 a.m.
