Preschool Teacher Workshop: Creating Art Centers for the Preschool Classroom

Whether you have a single easel in a corner or an entire studio space, the art center speaks volumes about what happens in the classroom. What does your art center say about your classroom? Is it a place where ideas take shape, children freely express themselves, and happy messes occur? Or is it a place that makes teachers want to pull their hair out?

This hands-on workshop will focus on creating child-centered art centers for the preschool classroom that encourage creativity and independence and are both manageable and aesthetically pleasing. We’ll look at model art centers for inspiration, learn organizing tips and tricks from local teacher Lindsey Silvis, and work together to draft material lists and create floor plans that will help you breathe new life into your own classrooms for the upcoming school year.

All participants will leave with new ideas and posters from the Museum Store to use in the classroom!

Funding for this workshop is provided by a generous grant from the Carl B. and Florence E. King Foundation. Registration is limited to thirty-five participants. Contact Leah Hanson, Manager of Early Learning Programs, at lhanson@DMA.org with questions.
