Spend an evening in 18th-century France at the Annual Rosenberg Fête celebrating French painting and sculpture from the Michael L. Rosenberg Collection. Enjoy an evening of talks, dance, figure drawing, and a magnifique menu at the DMA Cafe.

 

 

 



 

SCHEDULE OF EVENTS

Self-Guided Tour: Revolutionary Fashion
5:00–9:00 p.m., Pick up a self-guide at the main Visitor Services Desk
Take a bite-sized tour of the DMA's collection exploring political fashions of the French Revolution.

Performance in the Atrium
5:00-6:00 p.m., Atrium
Step back in time with 18th-century pieces performed by Dallas Symphony Orchestra Pianist Anastasia Markina.

Performance: 18th-Century Dance
6:00–6:15 p.m., Atrium
Start your evening with a performance of Baroque court dance by New York Baroque Dance Company while enjoying food inspired by the Michael L. Rosenberg Collection of French painting and sculpture. 

Demo: Fan Flirting
6:15–6:30 p.m., Atrium
In this short demonstration, learn how women in the 18th century sent covert messages using folding fans. Fans available for the first 250 attendees.

Talk: Knowing Their Place? Women Artists in 18th-Century France
7:008:00 p.m., Horchow Auditorium
Dr. Melissa Hyde, Professor of Art History at the University of Florida, will highlight work by the leading women artists of 18th-century France, including the DMA’s new acquisition, Adelaide Labille-Guiard’s Portrait of a Man from 1795. Learn more about these trailblazing artists and what it was like for women to be professional artists at this time.

Art Activity: Sketching in the Galleries
8:00–9:00 p.m., European Galleries, Level 2
Pick up a pencil and sketch pad and join local artist Barbara Hack in the galleries for some figure drawing. Materials provided; limited to the first 20 attendees. 

Drop-In Workshop: Baroque Dance 
8:30–9:00 p.m., Founders Room
Learn some new moves with New York Baroque Dance Company as they share the basics of Baroque court dancing. No experience necessary.
