Dallas, TX – October 29 2021 – The Dallas Museum of Art today announced the appointment of Sally Pietsch as Chief Financial Officer. An accomplished financial professional with 40 years’ experience, more than 15 years of which includes financial oversight at museums, she will join the DMA on December 1.
An outstanding CFO and strategic financial executive, Pietsch has spent a career as a valued member of Executive Teams with diverse industry knowledge, including nonprofit, consumer packaged goods, management consulting, and multistore retail chains for world-class organizations. These include the Perot Museum of Nature and Science, Frito-Lay, PricewaterhouseCoopers, and Blockbuster Entertainment. She has successfully led major projects and strategies through vision, value creation, and tactical execution. In recognition of her expertise, Pietsch was a finalist for the 2011 Dallas Business Journal CFO of the Year Award, Nonprofit Entities and was a finalist for the D Magazine Outstanding CFO, Nonprofit Group Award in 2013.

Pietsch will join the DMA after serving as the Chief Financial Officer at The Family Place (since 2020) and World Affairs Council of Dallas/Fort Worth (2017–2019). In her role at the DMA, Pietsch will be responsible for the effective management of the Museum’s finances, accounting function, and select earned revenue streams, such as the DMA Store. As a key member of the Director’s Team, she will provide active leadership in all aspects of the Museum’s operations and partner on business and strategic planning for the DMA’s future. Pietsch will report to Dr. Arteaga.
At The Family Place, Pietsch successfully secured a Paycheck Protection Program loan of $1.7 million so the agency’s three shelters could remain open during the COVID-19 pandemic. At the World Affairs Council, she managed accounting operations, budgeting, grant administration, employee benefits, and legal and risk management. Before her return to nonprofit leadership, Pietsch spent two years as Vice President of Finance for the food manufacturer Paciugo. Her museum tenure began in 1999, when she joined the Dallas Museum of Natural History in Fair Park, which merged in 2006 with The Science Place and the Dallas Children’s Museum to form the Museum of Nature & Science. As the CFO of this new institution, Pietsch led the financial aspects of the capital campaign and building project that resulted in the opening of the Perot Museum of Nature and Science in 2012 in Victory Park.
Sally Pietsch is a graduate of Rollins College with a BA in Business Administration/Mathematics, and of Southern Methodist University with an MBA in Finance/Accounting from the Cox School of Business.
