1995.116.1 Russel Wright, "American Modern” iced tea glass

GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Morgantown Glassware Guild's American Modern blown glassware were produced to accompany Stuebenville Pottery Company's popular smash hit earthenware line of the same name. Futuristic in both shape and color, these lines appealed to the young, well-educated, urban consumer who in the postwar period would come to dominate the debate over "good taste."

Adapted from
Charles L. Venable, China and Glass in America 1880-1980 (Dallas, TX: Dallas Museum of Art: New York: Harry N. Abrams, Inc., 2000), 349.
