GENERAL DESCRIPTION
This small vase features dense leaf and rose motifs which suggests the designer’s particular embrace of decorative patterns. After joining the Wiener Werkstätte in 1907, Eduard Josef Wimmer-Wisgrill became the artistic director of their fashion studio from 1910-1922 yet, like his colleagues, produced designs for various media. This particular vase descended from the collection of Adele Bloch-Bauer (1881-1925), a wealthy Viennese socialite whose two portraits by Gustav Klimt are among his most compelling and well-known paintings.
