2002.51 Dallas Parking Lot, Dallas

GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Dallas Parking Lot, Dallas was taken by Thomas Struth in February 2001, when he was making a tour of the four American cities where his retrospective exhibition would be seen - Dallas, Los Angeles, New York, and Chicago. Struth was initially drawn to the corporate landscape near Dallas-Fort Worth airport, a vast array of huge new architectural projects conceived as campuses of mammoth interlocking structures rather than discrete buildings. Ultimately, Struth settled not in this often-fantastic land but in downtown Dallas for his final work, choosing this image from a number of negatives.

Adapted from
Charles Wylie, "A History of Now: The Art of Thomas Struth," in Thomas Struth (Dallas: Dallas Museum of Art, 2002), 147-155.
