GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Set in 1940s rural Kansas where Bruce Conner spent his childhood, this film (its title is French for "Sad Waltz") brings together scenes of businessmen and locomotives, falling rocks, field workers, flooded roads, and young boys, including a 13-year old who appears to represent Conner himself. Set to the soundtrack of old "I Love a Mystery" radio programs, there is a pervasive and dreamy sense of nostalgia that runs throughout the film.
Excerpt from
Claire Rifelj and Suzanne Weaver, DMA unpublished material, 2005.
NOTES
