GENERAL DESCRIPTION
This vessel, incised before it was fired, depicts the patron as he conjures the snake-footed god K’awil (God K), whose name also signifies the capacity to bring soul essence into material form. In making this vessel, the artist played a visual pun on the theme of creation: as he has created the vessel itself, so he has shown the patron conjuring up its soul.
