GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Hannah Collins's huge works mimic the dynamics of traditional history and landscape painting, while remaining firmly within our own time in their use of photographic images and processes. In this work, Collins pictures Barcelona, Spain, in all its diffuse idiosyncrasies of television antennae, communication lines, rooftops, and sky, with a sense of the hills behind. Her work is simultaneously romantic, and a clear-eyed view of a vibrant city existing beneath a huge expanse of sky, alternating ideas of present realities with the eternal vastness of worlds above and beyond.
