GENERAL DESCRIPTION  
This print is from The Good Bourgeois, a series composed of ninety-five lithographs published in Le Charivari between April 21, 1846, and January 30, 1865. It was one of Daumier’s most important and well-loved non-political series, as he characteristically captured the Parisian bourgeoisie going about the routines of daily life. Here, he depicts an unenthusiastic but dutiful middle-class family visiting an aunt on New Year’s Day.
