2006.47.13 Bonnard, Woman with an Umbrella

GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Pierre Bonnard delighted in recording the chic silhouette of the parisienne, a type of stylish urban woman that came to symbolize Paris and modernity in the later 19th century. Lifting her skirt as she steps forward, perhaps onto a sidewalk, the parisienne casts a coquettish glance in our direction.

Excerpt from
Nicole Myers, DMA label copy, 2017.
