GENERAL DESCRIPTION
This silver and gilt serving spoon is an exceptional example of Gorham Manufacturing Company's H86 line of flatware, likely designed by the company's Chief Designer William C. Codman. The line, which features undulating lines and floral motifs, harmonized with Gorham's line of Art Nouveau hollowware, Martelé. Cast from molds and stamped, H86 designs were considerably cheaper than hand raised and chased Martelé designs.
