GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The fine, cord-like loop-in-loop chain of this ancient Greek necklace supports three gold pendants. Two are in the shape of amphorae; one consists of four rosettes made from sheet gold and soldered vertically to a central tube. The petals of each rosette are edged with twisted wire, and a globule is set in the center. The loops of all three pendants are made from ribbed gold. The finials are a more recent addition. No direct parallel for this piece is known. The style and workmanship suggest a date in the Classical period.
