2000.320.A-B, Shirin Neshat, Soliloquy, 1999, digital video

GENERAL DESCRIPTION
In this 17 and a half minute video, Shirin Neshat positions the viewer between a pair of life-size, parallel projected narratives that depict two seemingly different worlds: an ancient Middle Eastern palace and a modernist white building. The same veiled woman appears in both projections, creating a mirroring effect and in turn conjuring themes of exile, identity, and place.
