GENERAL DESCRIPTION
This watercolor is likely an image of Quanah Parker, the last Comanche chief to be recognized by the United States government. He died in 1911. Monroe Tsatoke was one of a group of Native American artists who arrived at the University of Oklahoma’s School of Art in the mid-1920s and made a name for themselves as the Kiowa Five.
