GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The Handicraft Shop was organized in 1901. Designs were commonly produced as a collaborative effort, joining the talents of craftspeople in various media. This bowl is marked for Karl Leinonen, the supervisor of the Handicraft Shop’s metals studio; however, its bands of punched floral designs indicate the influence of Mary Catherine Knight, noted for her distinctive use of leather-working tools to produce highly sophisticated pattern work.
