1997.135.1 Tray, Unknown factory (U.S.), c. 1950

GENERAL DESCRIPTION  
This tray features a stereotypical image of a Mexican peasant in sombrero and serape resting against a cactus surrounded by an array of brightly painted pottery, while the glasses (1997.135.2; 1997.135.3) depict Central American figures in native costume. Although these pieces were not created as a set, they nevertheless have closely related imagery.
