GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Tempera paints are a mixture of powdered dry pigments with water and either egg yolk (egg tempera) or milk proteins (casein tempera). Tempera paint dries quickly and once dry, it is extremely durable. Its longevity over time depends on the permanence of the ground (a prepared surface on which to apply the medium) and the interaction between the paint and other topical treatments such as varnishes.
NOTES
This note was tagged #routed in June 2015 and Sue's revisions (in a Word doc created by ASG) have been applied to the note as of October 2015. As of January 2017 I am adding the #draft tag to this note so that it is harvested to Google Drive. Once I am sure that all pending TMS or Piction data entry is complete, I will remove the #routed tag, add the #complete tag, and move the Google Doc to Queta's folder so that it is not re-routed to Sue.
Update- As of March 7, 2017 I am removing the routed tag and adding the completed tag. The GDoc has been moved to Queta's folders for review.
I have cataloged this image in Piction and am removing the %pictionJP and %UMOpending tags from this note. 2/27/2017.
The rule based on medium reaches 77 objects across 6 departments. I added department tags based on these results.
