GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Direct carving is the process of carving away the block of stone (or other material) to create a sculpture. This method had a resurgence in the 20th century when modernist artists rejected of traditional sculptural techniques that required multiple assistants working within an artist's workshop to produce monumental marble works or multiple bronze casts. Direct carving allows the sculptor to maintain contact with his/her material and personally create each individual work.
NOTES
Removed TMS tags for 1933.22, 1935.57, 1945.14, 1945.34, 1994.175, and 2001.47 as part of October 2015 revision process
Possibly connect to artists instead of objects? Or no rule needed if located in glossary?
I edited this note as a test of the harvest process to try and discern why Brain showed less #drafts then the number of notes tagged #draft in Evernote. I removed the text from the RULES field below as of 2/15/2016. The page for this note in Brain shows that it was harvested on 7 Nov 2015, but the failed rule page shows harvest date of 17 Feb 2016-- which would be after I had removed the incomplete rule from the RULE field.
This note was tagged #routed in June 2015 and Sue's revisions (in a Word doc created by ASG) have been applied to the note as of October 2015. As of January 2017 I am adding the #draft tag to this note so that it is harvested to Google Drive. Once I am sure that all pending TMS or Piction data entry is complete, I will remove the #routed tag, add the #complete tag, and move the Google Doc to Queta's folder so that it is not re-routed to Sue.
