GENERAL DESCRIPTION
High-relief design elements were made in two ways. The design could be cast in bronze or carved from hardwood or some other material. Sheet metal was then hammered or rubbed over this core to produce a raised surface. Objects in very high relief were sometimes made in sections and then soldered together. High-relief objects were also produced with models of hard material in which the design was carved.
