DALLAS, TX – December 5, 2017 – Today the Dallas Museum of Art announced the 27th anniversary season of Arts & Letters Live, the Museum’s literary and performing arts series. From January to June 2018, DMA Arts & Letters Live will feature 25 scheduled events with award-winning and bestselling authors, actors, and musicians. Widely acknowledged as a major contribution to Dallas’s cultural life, DMA Arts & Letters Live has featured more than 1,400 authors, actors, and performing artists at many sold-out events since its inception in 1992. This season features the series’ popular Texas Bound program (Texas actors reading short fiction by Texas writers), BooksmART programs for children and young adults, and events with special guests including Daisy Goodwin, Jhumpa Lahiri, Jojo Moyes, Shawn Achor, Maria Shriver, Lidia Bastianich, David Sedaris, and Michael Ondaatje.
“Arts & Letters Live’s 27th season is rich in its diversity with 25 events, many highlighting socially conscious themes that are resonant and relevant to a broad audience and to the world in which we live,” said Carolyn Bess, Director of Arts & Letters Live at the Dallas Museum of Art. “I hope our audiences will leave our programs feeling informed and inspired. There are also more opportunities than ever to have intimate workshop experiences with acclaimed authors, poets, and illustrators, and to connect art in the DMA’s collection with books featured in the series.”

The 27th DMA Arts & Letters Live season kicks off on January 18 at 7:30 p.m. with Daisy Goodwin, the creator, producer, and screenwriter of the acclaimed PBS television series Victoria. Goodwin will discuss her novel and share insights into the making of the television series. Connections to the DMA’s collection are woven throughout the season and include an illustration and writing workshop ($8) tied to the January 21 BooksmART event with Matt de la Peña and Loren Long; a writing workshop ($20) on March 3 with author Bret Anthony Johnston; a poetry workshop ($20) with poet Naomi Shihab Nye on May 6; and numerous pre-event tours of the DMA’s collection connecting art with books featured as part of the series.
