Late Night Film: Big Eyes
Size
Text
Tim Burton's 2014 film Big Eyes tells the story of Margaret Keane, an artist working in midcentury America who achieved incredible success with her paintings but none of the credit. When Margaret marries aspiring artist Walter Keane, her new husband offers to manage the publicity and sales of her work. In no time her portraits are selling and even being reproduced on a mass scale. Unbeknownst to Margaret, throughout this meteoric rise Walter has been taking credit for all of the paintings. It is only with the couple's divorce that Margaret fights for the recognition long owed to her.
This film is part of Late Nights at the Dallas Museum of Art.
