Join The Forum as they present a leture with architect Ted Flato from Lake | Flato. Ted Flato, FAIA, is a native to Corpus Christi, Texas, and received his Bachelor of Science in Architecture from Stanford University. Since founding Lake | Flato with David Lake in 1984, Flato has garnered a reputation for his straight-forward regional designs that leverage each unique site to connect people to the natural environment. Additionally, Flato developed Lake | Flato Porch House – a system of modules and connecting porch elements that is more sustainable and environmentally friendly. Lake | Flato has received over 270 international, national, and regional architectural awards, including the prestigious AIA Architecture Firm Award. In 2014 Lake | Flato was inducted into the Interior Design Magazine Hall of Fame. The studio’s designs in North Texas include award-winning residences as well as buildings at the Dallas Arboretum, the Greenhill School, Sylvan Thirty and the recently opened Treehouse.
About the Frank Welch Memorial Lecture
The Dallas Architecture Forum has established the Frank Welch Memorial Lecture to honor the legacy of Frank Welch, both as the Dean of Texas Modernist architects, and as the wonderful friend that Frank was to The Forum. Frank Welch was a long-time member of The Dallas Architecture Forum., and we were fortunate to have events at many of the residences that he designed. The highlight of each event was when Frank would give brief remarks about the project to the attendees. He was always gracious, insightful, and humble, and his presence made the event memorable for all who were there.
