Patina

GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Patina is the term for the brown or green encrustation on the surface of metalwork caused by oxidation, age, use, or exposure. The term (or its variants—patination, patinate) also refers to surface effects on non-metal objects whether produced by the passage of time, ritual use, atmospheric conditions, or intentionally triggered by chemical treatments.
