GENERAL DESCRIPTION
A World's Fair (also known as a world fair, world exposition, or universal exposition) is an international exhibition of art, design, engineering, and cultural practices that originated in 1851 with "The Great Exhibition of the Works of Industry of All Nations," held in The Crystal Palace in Hyde Park, London. Other noteworthy fairs include the American Independence Exposition (Philadelphia, 1876), World's Columbian Exposition (Chicago, 1893), International Exposition of Modern Industrial and Decorative Arts (Paris, 1925), Century of Progress Exposition (Chicago, 1933), and Building the World of Tomorrow (New York, 1939).

NOTES
This note was tagged #routed in June 2015 and Sue's revisions (in a Word doc created by ASG) have been applied to the note as of October 2015. As of January 2017 I am adding the #draft tag to this note so that it is harvested to Google Drive. Once I am sure that all pending TMS or Piction data entry is complete, I will remove the #routed tag, add the #complete tag, and move the Google Doc to Queta's folder so that it is not re-routed to Sue.
I rewrote this rule on 2/16/2017 to try and expand to objects that had world's fair-related terms entered in the title, public notes, or label copy fields. As of now this is linked to 20 notes (some ON and CCs) and 25 objects. I did not include the lines of the rule that applied to Art Deco since this was not a World's Fair.
For the sake of efficiency, I removed the possible image asset and linked to the illustration as a web resource.
I am using object photography to illustrate this CC, but the illustration tag can be changed in the future if it should be tagged with the accession number rather than the UMO to a specific image.

Removing this tag as of March 14, 2017 because the illustration process described by Carlos means that this object's primary image will be treated as the CC's primary illustration based on the object number appearing first in the rule.
