1984.202.7 Fujisawa: Yugyoji

GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Fujisawa was a popular site of religious pilgrimage, both to the Buddhist temple of Yugyoji and to a shrine on the nearby island of Enoshima. Religious pilgrimages gave commoners an opportunity to taste the adventures of highway travel. In this print, the temple buildings stand on the hillside in the distance, and the torii (gate) in the foreground marks the road to Enoshima.
