GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The bold colors of the vinyl upholstery of this chair typify the vivid palette favored by its designer, Alexander Girard. As design director of Herman Miller's textile division, Girard often adapted the designs and color schemes of non-Western sources, particularly those of South American art and textiles, which he avidly collected. Girard's furniture designs were created during the brief era of The Girard Group, a Herman Miller line that lasted from 1967 to 1968.
