2011.1.1 Prestige cap (mpwa)

GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Despite its simple design and modest decoration, this knotted cap was considered to be a powerful charm that protected the chief from malevolent forces. Rules had to be observed regarding when it could be removed and by whom—generally the chief’s first wife.
