GENERAL DESCRIPTION  
Lothar Baumgarten took this photograph on his journey across the United States in 1989, during which he recorded the history and present state of the continental railroad system. Here, the Burlington Northern Railroad tracks run through the snowy terrain of Flathead County, Montana.
