GENERAL DESCRIPTION  
Lothar Baumgarten took this photograph on his journey across the United States in 1989, during which he recorded the history and present state of the continental railroad system. This image, taken in Jeff Davis County in far west Texas, pays particular tribute to the landscape of the rail lines.
