NOTES
The object file has been reviewed.
TMS record has been reviewed.
No education file found for Darge.
Added provenance, geographies, constituent information, search dates and title variants.
Title on verso- hand-written-"The Lone Rider" (Ed Love Ranch, Sierra Blanca, West Texas)
title on verso- David Dike Fine Art sticker- "The Lone Rider, Ed Love Ranch" (Sierra Blanca, West Texas)
title verso- unmarked sticker, 584 Darge, Fred. The Lone Rider, Ed Love Ranch, West Texas (this is likely a Barrett sticker? Thus the work was accessioned according to their database and may not have been verified against the original title?)
Searched for tags related to sagebrush and noticed a website listing Texas Sage with a variety of other common names. The plant family is Scrophulariaceae and this is the tag found in AAT.
n.d. in TMS- but had previously used the artist life dates as search dates. At some point these were removed. I added search dates as 1935-1978 based on the artist's known residence in Dallas (when his West Texas subject matter was established) and his year of death.
