GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Linda Ridgway's delicate, gestural forms are cast from bronze, an inflexible, weighted material. Harvest Line, a double line of green grapes cascading down the gallery wall, combines natural, pliable subject matter with the hardness of industrial process. Drawing from aspects of Minimalism, the artist uses small-scale repeating elements to physically intervene in the space of the gallery, yet her approach is more poetic than reductive. Playing with scale and orientation, Ridgway exploits the irregularity of natural forms, shaping the vines as to invoke an ephemeral human presence.
