1977.72 Smith, Willy

GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Tony Smith was an artist familiar with architecture as well as sculpture; his work incorporates both types of construction. The uncluttered geometry of a work like "Willy" has the force of an architectural building. Both the form of the dark metal tetrahedron and the space it shapes seem to be bent, effortlessly, by some invisible mechanical force.
