1993.86.19.FA Vase

Namikawa Yasuyuki was one of the outstanding masters of Meiji-period cloisonné. His artistry bought him many prizes in foreign and domestic expositions, as well as Imperial patronage. He liked the "cloisons" (wires separating the fields of colored enamel) to be visible and sought to refine his craft to the point that the shaped gold and silver wire was itself an integral and vital part of the design.
