GENERAL DESCRIPTION
In 1982, the American architect Richard Meier was commissioned by Knoll International to design a group of seat furniture and tables. This group included a lounge, side chair, two stools, and two tables. For the creation of his design, Meier drew heavily on the turn-of-the-century work of Scottish and Viennese designers such as Charles Rennie Mackintosh and Josef Hoffmann. Although the Knoll archivist notes that Meier's side chair is rather uncomfortable, nevertheless, it won several awards including a 1983 IBD, USA Award and the 1983 Roscoe Award.
