The following is the caption by Elizabeth McCausland accompanying the original 1939 edition of Berenice Abbott's Changing New York publication.

Built by WPA labor on a site whose rental value is estimated at $2,000, the Downtown Skyport brings Wall Street close to air commuters from Oyster Bay, Boston, and Philadelphia.
