1971.37, kylix with interior medallion moded from a coin, Greece, 3rd century BCE, ceramic

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

NOTES
DMA unpublished material = TMS data
updated provenance and geo x refs

Here is the TMS data which was copied for the general description, but Gail's comments were that it sounds weird, and I don't have time to research and write a new description, so I'm removing it upon her suggestion and archiving here.

Hellenistic caleneware from South Italy was a dark-bodied fabric. There are numerous examples of Hellenistic caneware cups, with coin medallions impressed in the bottom of the bowl.

Excerpt from
DMA unpublished material.
