GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Taro Izumi’s videos produce humor both deliberately and by chance from moments that initially seem nonsensical. Some videos follow a plan, while others are ostensibly the product of boredom. The artist’s bizarre actions are interventions that break the routine of everyday life, continually generating and assuaging the spectator’s discomfort. Flashes of commentary on society, solitude, and popular culture unexpectedly emerge from the absurdity in Izumi’s performances.
