1985.R.1071, Platter, porcelain, 18th century

GENERAL DESCRIPTION
This octagonal platter is part of a set in the Reves Collection. There are festoons of thickly painted flowers about the border, and sprays elsewhere. The arms of Mawbey impaling Pratt are for Sir Joseph Mawbey who married his cousin, Elizabeth Pratt, in 1760. He was created baronet in 1765, and since these arms include a baronet's hand, they must date thereafter.
