GENERAL DESCRIPTION
In both its shape and floral decoration, this vase is an excellent example of American silver in the Persian or East Indian taste. While the style was first popularized by Tiffany & Co., Whiting Manufacturing Company produced some of the finest examples in the style during the late 1870s and early 1880s. The high quality and nature of the chased decoration on the vase are closely related to a tea set in the Dallas Museum of Art's collection (1991.30.1.A-B, 1991.30.2, 1991.30.3).
