As if in a dream, a close-up of a mysterious, almost grinning man radiates within an indeterminate gray field. Depicting psychological subject matter, Luc Tuymans plays on the human fascination with analyzing other humans, especially their faces. Inspired by photographs, television, and, in particular, film, Tuymans presents a figure with an otherworldly glow that exhibits traits of photographs and of movie screens.
