GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The Fort Worth School was a group of closely knit artists in the 1940s and 50s who explored new types of subject matter and art-making techniques. In direct contrast to their colleagues in the Dallas Nine, the Fort Worth School emphasized the mysterious, the uncanny, and the experimental.

Dickson Reeder was part of the Fort Worth School, a group of closely knit artists in the 1940s and 50s who explored new types of subject matter and art-making techniques. In direct contrast to their colleagues in the Dallas Nine, the Fort Worth School emphasized the mysterious, the uncanny, and the experimental-all qualities that characterize Reeder's evocative scene of conflict.
