GENERAL DESCRIPTION
American architect and designer Richard Meier is internationally renowned for his geometric architectural designs, including the Barcelona Museum of Contempoary Art, the Getty Center in Los Angeles, and the Ara Pacis Museum in Rome. Meier holds a B.A. in Architecture from Cornell University (1957) and briefly worked for Skidmore, Owings and Merrill, and Marcel Breuer before starting his own practice in 1963. Early in his career, he worked with artists such as Frank Stella and favored structures that were white and geometric. Currently Richard Meier & Partners Architects has offices in New York and Los Angeles with projects all over the world. In 1984, Meier was awarded the Pritzker Prize, and in 2008, he won the gold medal in architecture from the academy of Arts and Letters.
